Democrat Andrew Sneed has launched a digital and radio ad campaign in his bid to challenge Republican incumbent Dale Strong in the 5th District U.S. House race. Sneed launched the ads Friday ahead of the May 19 Democratic primary. Sneed faces educator Candice Duvieilh and U.S. Army veteran Jeremy Devito.

Sneed is the top fundraiser in the bid to become Strong’s challenger in the Nov. 3 general election, but Strong still had a more than $1 million advantage over his potential Democratic rivals as of March 31, according to reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

The ads focus on Sneed’s background as a licensed plumber and small business owner.

“I fix things for a living – that’s what plumbers do. Washington is broken, and the people of North Alabama deserve a representative who will actually show up and get to work,” Sneed said in a news release. “These ads are about letting our neighbors know who I am and where I come from. I’m a Lee High School graduate, a husband, a dad to three little girls, and I’m raising my family right here in the community that raised me. I’m not a career politician. I’m part of this district and I’m ready to go fix the House.”
